Tickets to Jay Chou’s The Secret on sale
Jay Chou’s Jukebox Musical, The Secret, will be put on at Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center on Dec 23. Ticket sales began Nov 1. New York’s top Broadway musical production team has prepared two years for this musical. More than 20 most popular songs were picked from Jay Chou’s albums recorded over the last 16 years. In addition, the musical will present music not shown in the 2007 movie.

The Secret was Jay’s first original big screen story, in which he juggled the jobs of director, leading performer and soundtrack director. It was so successful that it earned nearly 10 million dollars in ticket sales that year (ninth in the Asian yearly box office ranking). It won at the 2007 44th Golden Horse awards for Best Visual Effects, Outstanding Taiwanese Film of the Year, and Best Original Film Music, and was nominated for Best Asian Film at the Hong Kong Film Awards in 2008.

The musical is directed by John Rando, a Tony Award winner for Best Director; adapted by Marc Acito, a famous American novelist; and choreographed by highly-admired modern dancer Zach Woodlee. Its set was designed by Beowulf Boritt who has also been a Tony Award winner for Best Scenic Design. John Shivers, who won a Best Sound Design Tony for the world-renowned popular Broadway musical Kinky Boots, Simone Genatt and Marc Routh, award winning musical producers, are also involved in the production.
